Tarbert Fair will now be taking place on the 10th – 14th August.
This is slightly different from previous years as the fair usually occurs on the last weekend of July. The decision to change the original dates was made by the organisers of the event due to them facing unforeseen circumstances.
We trust this information will be of use to the community and encourage people to share the new dates with others. 😊
Tarbert Fair is one of the oldest approved fairs in Tarbert, being held, since 1705, on the last Thursday of July every year. The fair started after the Scottish Parliament passed an “Act in favour of Archibald Mackalester of Tarbert to hold four yearly fairs and a weekly mercat at the Toun of East Tarbert.”
The annual cattle sale which used to accompany Tarbert Fair is no longer but the shows and amusements that arrive every year keep children bursting with excitement. As soon as the school holidays start - the countdown begins. |
